No: Typically you will limp becasue your knee hurts, but if you are careful you can mask your limp and walk nearly normally.

MCL tear: The popping and pain is more likely due to a meniscal tear associated with your mcl injury.

Time for motion: Partial MCL can hurt and stiffen up.  Assuming MRI showed no meniscus it's time for therapy to regain motion

More likely ACL Tear: Injury of the knee associated with a "pop" at the time of injury is most often associated with an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament. This injury is often associated with concurrent injuries to the menisci, which could explain the pain on the inside (medial) side of the knee. Bone bruising and injuries to to articular cartilage may also occur. I strongly recommend an orthopedic evaluation.

is this an acl/pcl/mcl tear? i can walk fine, but i'm having a hard time stretching and bending my knee. it hurts when i run, jump and walk upstairs

Be seen: You would need to be seen, examined, and likely have had an mri to make that diagnosis.  It would take a substantial injury to tear all those structures in the knee and your knee would likely be extremely unstable if it occurred.  Don’t hesitate to see an orthopedic surgeon to discuss the specifics of your case.

Maybe.: As long as it is an isolated mcl tear it will heal uneventfully. It could be a medial meniscus tear, though. A careful exam can usually distinguish between the two, but in some cases an MRI is needed to rule out meniscal injury.

Pain with walking or bending can be seen with both.

Pain from meniscus: It could be that the meniscal tear never healed and it is continuing to cause you pain and irritation. A large percentage of meniscal tears end up needing to be addressed surgically.

MCL: I'm assuming you mean a torn mcl. Yes generally you can walk even when torn but best to do so in a protective brace. This also depends on the severity of the tear.

Meet Orthopedist: You would require significant reconstructive surgery, which might involve allograft (ligaments from cadavers) or autograft (other ligaments from elsewhere in you) to reconstruct. Then significant physical therapy, but likely with acceptable function.

Torn Mcl: It depends what grade the tear is.Grade 1&2, you may be able to walk but with grade 3 it will be painful and rest is recommended for at least 72 hours.But if it is painful to walk then stay off your leg, use cruches and follow with yor orthopedic doctor.So it depends on the severity of tear, as all tears are not the same.
