Sure.: Benzocaine is the main ingredient of orajel; when used within reason (not excessive amounts, nor for too long) it is expected to be safe for use during pregnancy and lactation. Pregnancy category c, no human or animal studies available.

Yes, but?: Why would you want to? If it is that painful to brush your teeth that you would like to put orajel on your toothbrush then you may have some oral problems that need to be addressed. Best to see your dentist to make sure there is no pathology or disease in your mouth. If everything is fine then you can put orajel on your toothbrush if you desire, but put a fluoridated toothpaste on as well.

Yes, but...: Most, if not all, doctors would consider that a waste of time and money. The Orajel will not make a noticeable difference in anything related to the shots. Even the skin anesthetics that doctors sometimes use before starting IV's or doing blood draws need not be used in babies' shots, partly because the shot needles are tiny and the pain is more from the vaccine liquid expanding into the muscle.

Orajel: The ingredients in orajel are not addictive. That is not to say that an individual may become dependent on using it unnecessarily. It is intended for short term use. If you or anyone else has a continuing dental problem, it should be evaluated and treated by a dentist. Orajel merely numbs the area, it does not remove the cause of the discomfort.

Yes: Using paracetamol after applying orajel is ok. But what is not ok if you continue using orajel. You could wind up with chemical burn at the affected area where you appying it. If you have a tooth ache seek the help of a dentist.

Which one?: Orajel containing 
benzocaine should NOT be used before 24 months.  Baby Orajel without Benzocaine should be OK.  Do not overdose.  With a q-tip dap a tiny little bit onto the area where tooth is trying to emerge.  A chilled teething ring may be just as effective,  Talk to your Pediatrician about Baby Motrin.  Take your child to a Pediatric 
Dental Specialist (Pedodontist) as a 1st b'day present.

Yes, benzocaine (a: relative of lidocane, commonly used agent for injection through skin as a topical/dental anesthetic); is much more readily absorbed through mucous membranes (mouth, nose, pharynx) than skin, thus sold under many different brand names as OTC numbing agent for mucous membranes. Like other OTC products, a more dilute &amp; branded concoction.  Benzonatate, Rx agent sold for cough, tiny drop, much better.

Small quantities : Small quantities are safe to use, but i would only use it if absolutely necessary (if needed to fall asleep). The effect is only very temporary. Give him something cold to chew on instead (frozen washcloth, teething ring) during the day. This will feel good and help the teeth come in as well.
