Likely shorter: When first starting the birth control pill (bcp), you can start the pill as soon as you start your period and  lilely have a shorter period.  Most bcp's have 7 inactive pills to allow for a period - some of the newer bcp's have only 4 inactive pills.  If you start your new pack of pills after only 3 or 4 days of the inactive pills in your pack, your periods will be shorter.

Period Prob Coming: Assuming you are taking the BCP properly, it is likely you are about to have your period.Depending on the BCP some women will notice lighter periods the longer they take them, that is normal. Of course if you missed pills, took certain abx and have been sexually active the first thing you should do is a preg test. If sex active and no period within next wk check preg test.
BCP's don't prevent STD.

Unlikely. BCP's: Cycle Estrogens that buildup endometrium and progestational agents mimicking pregnancy, once the lining is built, it bleeds as it is shed. A fertilized ovum needs to implant for successful pregnancy, and cannot do so with shedding endometrial lining.

One per day: Birth control pills should be taken once per day. You take one pill every day for 28 days to complete the pack. Then the next day you start the next pack. You do not change this pattern if you are on your period.

: You should be protected because you switch directly the contraceptive method from pill to shot even the shot may not be given during the first 5 days of your cycle. You think you had a withdrawing bleeding not a regular period, I guess. Take care!

Yes: Similar to other versions of the question it is true that some women do not always bleed when on birth control pills. Remember birth control pills trigger a “fake” period via withdrawal bleeding. You may want to ask your doctor to test your thyroid and Prolactin to make sure no other cause of a lack of periods is occuring

That was the period: The low dose oral contraceptive pills keep the endometrium (lining of the womb) very thin, which also helps to prevent potential implantation/pregnancy. The flip side is that there is often very little endometrium to shed at the time of the withdrawal/period, thus the brown spotting.
