how long before your stomach stretches out after gastric sleeve?

It's up to you: With any barietric procedure the patient can "out eat" the procedure. I have had this happen many times. If you get your post-op calories from solid food it is hard to gain weight. But suppose you get most of your post-op calories from liquids (e.G coke or scotch). You will cause the procedure to fail. This happens more than we would like to admit. You can ruin the  operation in a few months.

i had a gastric sleeve in 2010.i currently weigh 137 started at 300lbs.  is it possible to have surgery to stretch my stomach and gain weight?

Maybe, But why would: anyone do it. Repeat surgeries are always frought with dangers and risks of complications are multiplied.
I would not recomend it. Lets see if anyone else would?

Eat small amounts: The best way to keep your stomach from stretching after a bariatric surgery is to make sure you keep strictly to the amount of food that you are told to eat by the surgeon. Often that amount is 1/2 cup of food at a time. This is a small volume of food and sometimes hard to keep track of, but eating larger volumes is dangerous and can stretch your stomach or remaining pouch.

Yes: Stomach can stretch out if you continue to over eat.

It's no different: than if you get gastric cancer anywhere in your stomach without the surgery. Any cancer needs to be diagnosed and treated quickly and appropriately. Talk w/your doctor if you have concerns.

is the gastric sleeve good for a person with sarcoidosis? because of the inflammation and the stapling of the stomach? would it cause problems?

May increase risk: The gastric sleeve procedure can be safely performed with good success in most patients. However, sarcoidosis can lead to poor tissue healing, making a surgical complication more likely. With the stomach stapling there is significant inflammation associated with healing. You will have to discuss this issue carefully with your surgeon to determine the risk for you.

can a gastric sleeve procedure be used to remove stomach cancer? a relative told me this is why they are having the procedure.

No: Gastric sleeve resection is weight loss surgery, not for stomach cancer.

all drs say that you should drink a glass of water with medicine, and also the stomach of a gastric sleeve patient can hold only between 2 to 5 oz only. what to about that?

: That seemingly blanket advice is for only pts who have not had that surgery and can be modified in cases of such surgery

Accepted Answer

See a surgeon: After gastric sleeve surgery or other stomach or bariatric surgeries you still can develop stomach problem such as ulcers and gastritis. These should be evaluated by preferably your bariatric surgeon with a history, exam, and testing including possibly labs, an upper GI xray, and endoscopy, depending on the situation.
