P.I.H. not "PIG": Pregnancy induced hypertension (pih) can progressed to make one swell and look like a pig(pregnancy induced gondola). Yes, healthy women can develop pih (pre-eclampsia) especially if there diet is unhealthy. Epsom salts contain magnesium which when infused IV  can stop pih seizures( but not prevent pih(eclampsia). Epsom salt magnesium is not what is infused at that time.

No worries: As is said in Australia, "no worries", as the lower the blood pressure the better for your pre-eclampsia and pregnancy outcome. Although there is still as risk for complications including seizures, I am sure your OB MD is contemplating an early delivery for this pregnancy.

Yes, a criteria: Preeclampsia is clinically defined as hypertention and proteinuria (protein in urine) with/out edema occuring after 20 wks of pregnancy. So, hypertention is a required component for the diagnosis. Help is severe preeclampsia involing hemolytic anemia, liver dysfuctions, and low platelet count. These are very important illnesses and follow-up with doc asap/regularly is strongly advised...Good luck.

Depends: While having just  visual  changes  and  no elevation of  blood pressure  is  not commonly  seen  with preeclampsia it  can happen on  occasion. Those patients  may have  other  problems  like rapid  weight gain,  headaches  and  abnormal  kidney and liver functions    preceeding  the  elevated BP and protein  . The  usual  visual changes are  lights or spot before  eyes  not  floaters.

Post partum high BP: Even though you did not have elevated blood pressure prior to delivery, it is still possible immediately post partum to have pre-eclampsia(Pregnancy induced hypertension- PIH). If you are more than 4 weeks post partum then other causes of high blood pressure should be investigated by your MD, as you should see him/her as soon as possible.
