Multiple: Complications can include anastomotic leak, bleeding, and/or stenosis with obstruction. Blood clots, pneumonia, and even death are possible. Post discharge complications can include dumping syndrome, which is caused by a high carbohydrate diet, and causes flushing, fast heart rate, diarrhea, and a faint feeling. A Cardiac evaluation, Pulmonary evaluation (including Sleep apnea eval in your case), psychiatry evaluation and a general Medical Clearance will be required before any surgery with most centers.
