A member asked:

Could you tell me what are some complications of gastric surgery people have had?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Multiple: Complications can include anastomotic leak, bleeding, and/or stenosis with obstruction. Blood clots, pneumonia, and even death are possible. Post discharge complications can include dumping syndrome, which is caused by a high carbohydrate diet, and causes flushing, fast heart rate, diarrhea, and a faint feeling. Discuss with your surgeon, regardless of the indications for surgery. Good luck.
