i'm 20 years, have enlarged lymph nodes in my groin (one is >1 cm), & it has been there for 4 months. i have pain in hip area, but all blood test are normal. how likely is it to be lymphoma?

Not likely: Worth getting the lymph node biopsied or studied further though if it has been there that long.

i had thyroid ct scan, everything was normal. had labs today for upcoming app. & doctor ordered lymphoma blood test. any reason why if scan was normal?

Unrelated diseases: Hi. The lymphoma blood test (flow cytometry, I assume) looks for a monoclonal white cell population. A CT of the thyroid (not a standard or ideal test for thyroid evaluation) looks for anatomical abnormalities of the thyroid. Thyroid anatomical abnormalities and lymphoma are distinct conditions with the very rare exception of thyroid lymphoma. Have you had a needle biopsy of your thyroid?

had sudden groin pain can't feel lump have lump on neck.. locum doctor said there not related i'm stressing over lymphoma etc which i seen online. blood test normal and ultrasound on neck fine. can you help?

Groin : Get an MRI of your groin area if your concerned about cancer or tumors. If negative it will give you peace of mind.

have a firm axillary lymph about 1cm-1.1cm node doctor says its fine but im still worried and have had a chest x ray and blood test that is clear.and i have some in my neck that have been ultrasounded and look fine and are pea sized. lymphoma?

Reactive: These are reactive lymph nodes likely from some prior viral infection.  At 21 your likelihood for lymphoma is 1 in 100,000.  Lymph nodes that are consistent with lymphoma are typically spongy. Lower your incidence of cancer and lymphoma by eating right, getting enough sleep, reduce stress and stay away from substances. Remember to exercise!  This moves the lymph through the lymph nodes.

Non-Hodgkin's test: Although a diagnosis of non-hodgkin's lymphoma can be suspected by certain lab results (ldh, spep, cbc, beta-2 microglobulin), there is no way to diagnose it without doing a biopsy (of a lymph gland or the bone marrow or the affected organ).

Not usual: For lymphoma, a disease of nodes, to have diagnostic cells or abnormalities on blood tests. This question is asked a lot on the site, and I do not know from what source the false belief comes from.  One needs a biopsy of a node or the site of lymphoma, blood work for other reasons.

Lymphoma: Did you diagnose and order the blood test by yourself or is there an oncologist taking care of you?  If so, check with them.

does a cbc blood test detect cancer? specifically lymphoma?

CBC &amp; Lymphoma: There are a few lymphomas which can be detected on a CBC but most will not show up that way.  In other words, if your CBC is normal doesn't mean you don't have lymphoma.  A biopsy of any enlarged lymph node is suggested.
