hi i got diatomaceous earth food grade but it's meant for pests and isnt for human consumption, it has 100% amorphous silica and 0.1% crystalized silica. i inhaled some and have it in clumps aroundmy carpet, will i get silicosis from the particles?

Accepted Answer

: The condition arises in those with significant (5-20 year) regular exposure to microparticles of the material. The chance of the cited exposure producing a long term defect approaches zero. The lung does have a self cleaning mechanism designed to remove particles from what we inhale. That system will likely clean up and remove any inhaled material in the next few weeks.

will i get sick from inhaling baby powder a few times?

Accepted Answer

Probably Not: Most baby powder today is made up of corn starch which is much safer than talc. If breathed in in very small amounts it is not dangerous.

can you get sick from inhaling spoiled bacon as it is cooking?

Accepted Answer

No but why?: Why would you put yourself at risk using bacon obviously spoiled.  The vapors from this are harmless although possibly irritation if inhaled too deeply or steadily.  But i suggest spoiled bacon should be put in compost or discarded.

my asthma is starting up i had not had problems with my asthma in two years only when i get sick my resue inhaler is two years old can i use it?

Accepted Answer

Not a good idea: Best will be to call your prescriber's office for a refill. This way they will also be aware of your condition and the fact that you are using it.

im very much physically active with hectic inhalation allergies. virgin active gyms with indoor pools seems to trigger my allergies badly. i therefore get ill often. i have seen some gym members training with masks on. will they be of any use to me?

They certainly: might be. But it seems a bit counterproductive to be working out in an environment where you have increased risk of illness! Pursue this with Gym management. What are they doing about purifying the environment in the gym? Look into alternative work-out environments. I would think there would be a better solution to this that wearing a mask while you are working out. Stay well:)

can someone get very ill or die from taking 5 puffs of inhaler when the recommended dose is 2?

Accepted Answer

Inhaler: Unlikely.  An albuterol inhaler or beta agonist will make someone's heart race, a steroid inhaler would very likely cause no side effects (just was mouth out to avoid a yeast infection).

my 3 yr old seems to get sick so often with a cold followed by a cough that last too long albuterol inhaler makes it worse what to do please advice tkx ?

See below: First off post viral coughs can last up to 3 weeks. Next albuterol is not a "cold" medication but rather a reliever medication for asthma.  As colds are a major trigger point for an asthma exacerbation it is frequently prescribed. You should check with your doctor on this as your son made need additional or alternative therapies.

if im wiping and i go to look at the paper to see if theres anything, would i get sick if i accidentally inhale poop particles ? paper was about 1ft away, did it a couple times to see if there was blood. am i over exaggerating?

after sleeping 6 hours, i get stabbing pain between my shoulder blades along my spine. inhaling causes rib cage pain (not sick). is my ms a factor?

Shoulder pain: Ms may be a factor, but more likely muscle strain. Also consider sprain or referred nerve root/dorsal nerve irritation.

Yes, : Yes, this is a potentially serious situation as it can lead to obstructed breathing and significant infections.  The fact that you are having difficulty breathing warrants a visit to an emergency department to rule out airway obstruction.
