You are most likely to get pregnant mid cycle when you ovulate, so the week(s) around ovulation you are at the highest risk to get pregnant, and of course right at ovulation even more so.  Unprotected sex right after your period and right before, your chances of pregnancy are very low.

Yes: The most likely time to get pregnant is mid-cycle when ovulation usually occurs.  It is possible to get pregnant at any point during the menstrual cycle, however, as occasionally ovulation may occur earlier or later in the cycle than expected. This change in ovulation can be due to factors such as stress, hormone changes, weight loss or gain, breastfeeding, etc.

Depends: There is debate about ultrasound in pregnancy. until the 1980s Ultrasound was not available, and women still had babies.

If there are no problems with the pregnancy, Many suggest a Fetal survey at about 19 weeks.

More scanning, only if there is a problem. However, there is a lot of variability in opinion.

No: A woman may have some bleeding when pregnant but it would not be due to her period.

Yes: Yes because no oral contraception or other form of protection is 100% effective. If you don't have a back up plan for the first month on oral contraceptives it may not provide full protection.
