Poison ivy: If you had an exposure to poison ivy, you should wash yourself and all clothing/ items  you wore at the time of exposure .Poison iv is an allergic reaction so sometimes the spread is due to worsening allergic reaction. If it is spreading you should seek medical attention as you may need oral steroids ( prednisone) to get the reaction under control. Calamine may be insufficient.

Poison Ivy: Poison ivy only affects your skin and not your internal organs.

Steroids: Once the oils are off of your skin and clothes (by showering and washing clothes in hot water), poison ivy is not contagious.  It is very irritation however because of what is called a type 4 immune response.  The best way to stop that response is to use some steroids like prednisone.  Any urgent care or clinic should be able to prescribe this for you.

Steroids: If you were exposed to poison ivy in your eyes and you are allergic to it then see your doctor or go to the emergency room because you should be on oral steroids to prevent a significant allergic reaction.  Wash the poison ivy out as soon as possible.

Highly unlikely.: Doubtful that poison ivy would cause permanent blindness. Maybe very temporary if your eyes were directly involved. Poison ivy may cause severe reactions with swelling and itching. Most often these are time limited reactions by your immune system. Your symptoms should improve with time.

i have poison ivy outlining both of my eyes. i applied triamcinolone around and under them. next day i woke up with two big wrinkles under eyes? help

Go to an eye dr!: Triamcinolone is not one of the best or safest drugs to use around your eyes. There are special eye ointments/creams containing steroids that only an eye doctor can prescribe accurately, because any steroids that get in the eye can increase your intraocular eye pressure. Plus, when swollen lids deflate, they appear wrinkled. So, have an expert eye doctor check this out.

Contact allergen: It may be from something you are using from the neck up.   Find out what new products you have recently added prior to the first breakout.  In the meanwhile, try Hydrocortisone cream. If problem persists, consult a dermatologist.

my 2yo had what we thought was poison ivy. prior he had gunny eyes, not pink eye and after the same. he gets fevers ever 3-4 day and hives randomly every couple days not necessarily with the fever. for 3 day he had a swollen eye. what could it be?

: Infection should be considered and treated as indicated. Please see urgent care or the emergency room at a children’s center. The fever and swollen eye may not be related to poison ivy, but rather to an infection. Monitor your child for facial swelling and difficulty moving the eye.
