Mouth hives: It is possible for an allergic response to manifest itself as hives in your mouth or throat. An antihistamine would be a good thing to take if this happens--like Benadryl (diphenhydramine) otc. If it happens repeatedly then evaluate the possible cause and avoid that substance and check with your primary care manager.

Localized reaction: Localized hives, especially around the mouth
is usually due to a contact allergic reaction.  Suggest tracking foods, condiments and cosmeticals used on a regular basis and list which ones seem to cause the hives.

whenever i hold cold things my fingers get swollen red and itchy and my top lip swells. also if it touches my body i get hives there, what is it?

Cold urticaria: You have a condition known as cold urticaria or cold hives. The condition is caused by the release of histamine. Try to avoid the cold. Take anti histamines when exposed. If you know you will be exposed to cold you can use vaseline on your hands or face to try to reduce the effect.

took cefdinir 2 wks and clindamycin for just 3 of those days also. developed few hives and slight swollen upper lip. off of all meds for 3 days and still get a few hives and slight swollen upper lip. how long can  this last? using 25mg antihistamine?

: It sounds like you have a mild case of angioedema. This can have any number of causes, but the 2 antibiotics you took are not commonly Associated with it.  Are you on an ACE inhibitor? (Usually given for high BP or heart failure) these drugs are most common cause, along with aspirin or ibuprofen, but stress can also cause.  See Dr immediately if any difficulty breathing.

Hives: 49 M from MD notes 1.5 wk lip numb different spots with hives and welt sometimes with palpitations.? ANS: Not certain what the question is but sounds like you are having an allergic reaction to something. If you are taking a BP med that is an ACE inhibitor this would be my first suspect. New pet, new job?  Seeing a Dr. in AM would be good. Unless you know what is causing it.

MRSA treatment: Sepsis can occur but is less likely to happen if you get treated.  Mrsa infections are usually treated with antibiotics.  People with recurrent infections sometimes need decolonization.  Chlorhexidine is a soap that can be used to decrease the load of MRSA on the skin and decrease risk of infections and sepsis.  You should ask your doctor if this would be a good option for you.

Contact urticaria: There are many allergens associated with contact urticaria, such as foods, preservatives, fragrances, plant and animal products, and metals. Perhaps strawberries and latex are two of the most common. If urticaria is more diffuse, the list is different.

Sounds like: You have contact allergy to something you ate, or something else you placed around your mouth, such as cosmetics, toothpaste, mouthwash.  If it persists for longer than one day, go see a doctor.  If you have breathing problems along with it, right away to the doctor.

With the temporary: nature sounds like some allergic response to quick exposure, i.e. nail polish, acidic foods. see derm when rash present

Urticaria: Hives on  trunk along with mouth and gums is an immune or allergic reaction to an antigen. An allergic reaction could be to foods, food additives and flavoring agents, medications including herbal agents and chemicals. Immune reactions are more common, most common being to viral infections. Over the counter antihistamines such as Claritin or Benadryl (diphenhydramine) have helped many patients. Consult your doctor.
