Maybe/not:  The usual primary drugs for chlamydia are seldom effective in treating a UTI. Treatments vary with the suspected germ &amp; local drug resistance information.

i have had symptoms of a uti , got on medicine and am done with this medicine but i am still experiencing the symptoms. just got a call from a partner that they have chlamydia should i get tested? is my pain still here because of a uti or what?

Should get tested: A person who has sex with a chlamydia-infected person needs to get checked for chlamydia and other STD&#x27;s. That is because STD&#x27;s have friends and run in packs... like chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, trichomonas, etc... Luckily, everybody gets Gardasil HPV vaccines, right? That means people should not be catching the wart and cancer strains of HPV, right? If positive tests, doctor starts treatment.

Chlamydia : Chlamydia test has become more sophisticated and accuracy is high. If the test is positive to be on safe side i would recommend you get treated asap. For your safety.

No: No infection can "turn into" a different one. Chlamydia is a particular bacteria, only transmitted by sex. It doesn't cause UTI; and UTI bacteria are  entirely different, not sexually transmitted.  However, chlamydia and UTI can cause similar symptoms, such as painful urination. Sounds like you need to see a doctor for professional care and treatment. Good luck!

No , but...: You could have burning with urination due to a chlamydia infedtion. If you had a UTI but were never exposed to chlamydia - then you would not get a chlamydia infection.

It shouldn't: If you're not certain, you can always get rechecked. Talk to your doc about your std risks & prevention.

Hard to say: My gold standard for UTI diagnosis is a urine culture which yields the germ and what meds kill it.Some look at a urinalysis and assume a UTI and treat with the usual antibiotic.If you didn't ask them to look, the test for chlamydia would not usually be run. Since I don't  know how you were tested or whether they did a culture, I cannot be sure what they found.

Maybe: If by "little cuts down there" you mean burning pain in your vagina or upon urination, then yes, UTI & chlamydia (a sexuallly transmitted infection/disease) can cause your discomfort. I'm hoping that since you were diagnosed that you also were prescribed appropriate antibiotics which you took & finished as directed. Please do not save any for your next infection. Go see ur doc if you're not better.

can smz/tmp ds 800-160  treat chlamydia.. i.took.it.for.a uti but my bf had chlamydia but i don't. i believe he has only been with me. i think it clea?

Not helpful.: Go see your primary care doctor or GYN.  They can test and treat for chlamydia.
