i have a chronic yeast infection, very frustrating. i have good hygiene,changed my soap,cotton underwear etc. in the beginning took fluconazole for months but now, im allergic and get rerash on my face.terconazole irritates my vulva, what to do? help?

: Boric acid vaginally (gel, suppositories or capsules) often is very effective in treating or preventing vaginal yeast infections. Maybe worth a try (assuming persistent yeast is confirmed as the cause of your symptoms). It has the additional advantage of equal benefit even for azole resistant Candida species. Discuss with your gynecologist.

Yeast : Yeast infections are caused by a fungus.  Everyone has fungus on their bodies in limited amounts.  It likes warm, moist places....Armpits, between toes, in the vagina, etc.  Yeast infections occur when the fungus is allowed to grow unchecked in a hospitable environment like the vagina.  This happens after women take antibiotics, which kills all the normal bacteria that lives in the vagina, leaving space for the fungus to grow.  Similarly, taking a lot of warm baths, douching, etc. Washes out the normal bacteria and can lead to infections.  I am not aware of any link between thongs and yeast infections.  Some evidence shows that eating probiotics like yogurt or pills replenish the normal bacteria that colonize the vagina and decrease the risk of yeast infections.

is it okay to wear a pad when i insert monistat for a yeast infection to prevent it from getting on my underwear?

Yes: Yes, you can use a pad.  Probably best to not use a tampon, to allow the cream to distribute through the vagina.

i used clotrimazole vaginal tablets last night for my yeast infection. today some of the pill stuff comes out on to my underwear. is that ok?

Possibly: The longer the tampon is in place, or if the tampon dries you out too much it can irritate the tissues and make you more prone to getting a yeast infection, but does not actually cause it.
