i have a large hiatal hernia and have really bad chest and shoulder pain.. how does the hernia make u get this pain? your arm and tummy aint conected

See below: Hey hiatal hernia is one part of stomach is above your diaphragm and in your chest. If your hernia is large, most of your stomach can be in your chest taking up space. This can cause chest pain. Sometimes the nerves in the chest can refer pain to the  shoulder or arms.

4 months ago dx with hiatal hernia, gastritis, gerd. i get heartburn occasionally, but for 6 months now i experience pain in right side of neck that can radiate to the right arm and wrist. my gastro md doubts gerd as cause. is this gastrointestinal?

: This sounds like cervical disc disease.  Would consider seeing a neurologist if it continues.

Limited exercise ok: after hernia repair refrain form straining you abdominal wall muscles which comes with heavy lifting or streneous exercise

Likely Not related: Hiatal hernias cause gastro-esophageal reflux not neck and arm pain.  Rarely hiatal hernias can get big enough that they can cause pain or other symptoms, but that is very rare.

Not a hernia: A mass near the elbow may be a lipoma ( benign fat tumor) , a cyst ( benign skin lesion), or rarely an enlarged lymph node, or other rare tumors.  A hernia can only occur from a hollow body cavity, the chest or abdomen.

Right arm symptoms : Are not related to hernia (i assume abdominal wall) operation.  It might be related to positioning during surgery or IV site.  Ask your surgeon what he thinks.

i was doing these stretches and was wondering if they were safe to do with a hiatal hernia? there is the bridge stretch and regular lifting your arms up stretch. should i avoid these types of stretches?

: The bridge stretch may be not a good practice if you have hiatal hernia. You should double check with a GI doctor.

im on cyclobenzaprine for hernia discs, stopped taking them. how long will my arms and legs feel like rubber with no strengthk?

Muscle relaxant: Muscle relaxant like cyclobenzaprine is helpful for stiff muscles. If you have chronic back problems you may need Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine hcl) from time to time.

Symptoms: Superficially it sounds like low probability of cardiac cause of your symptoms tho' your doctor ordering these studies should be better able to advise you. There are many causes possible for arm/chest symptoms and hiatal hernia is a chest possibility but lower probablity for left arm pain.
