With any kind of imaging (ultrasound, ct scan, mri) - it would not be possible to mistake a pregnancy for a fibroid.

If your fibroids are large or located inside the lining of the uterus, they could cause a lot of trouble. Fibroids can lower the chance of getting pregnant, increase the chance of miscarriage, cause preterm labor, bad pain and increased risk of cesarean section.

The two main things they can cause are pain if they are degenerative, or obstruction of delivery if they are toward or in the cervix. Most intramural fibroids do not cause problems and the care for the pregnancy is no different. This assumes you have not have prior surgery to remove fibroids.

Some methods require a longer healing time than others due to the amount of uterine "injury" which can increase the risk of uterine rupture should you get pregnant too soon after surgery.
