Influenza Deaths: Deaths related to influenza are due to complications such as: a secondary bacterial infection (like pneumonia) or due to worsening of pre-existing conditions (asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, congestive heart failure or immunodeficiency, etc.)

Worry just a little: For treating Flu A or Flu B, Tamiflu (oseltamivir) is twice a day for 5 days. For prevention of Flu after exposure in an unvaccinated person, Tamiflu is once a day for 10 days. An infected person can ask her doctor for help. College-aged flu patients almost never die from the flu (the death rate is probably less than 1 per 10,000 flu patients). For age 65 years and up, rate is about 80 per 10,000.

Observe or UC: Everyone is getting very scared because of the flu, most important is that you feel like you can breath well or that you get enough air.  If concerned you can go to an urgent care facility to get checked.

Influenza: Superimposed bacterial pneumonia can kill even the healthiest person in the right situation.  Bronchitis and asthma flare-ups can also cause serious health concerns.

Extremely rare: Death due to pneumonia, with or without influenza, is extremely rare at your age, assuming proper diagnosis, medical care, and antibiotic treatment if recommended by your doctor. Pneumonia deaths are pretty much limited to frail elderly persons and others with severe health problems like bad malnutrition, cancer, AIDS, etc. Follow your doctor's advice and all will be well. Yes and maybe: Theoretically yes, one may get both. It is not quite what we see and hear. While the severity of the infection may increase or the immunity may be weakened, the coexistence of infections has not been proven as linked to a higher risk for death.

Pneumonia: Both influenza and Covid can cause pneumonia. People who die from influenza often have contracted a secondary bacterial pneumonia. While this can happen with Covid, many of the patients who die have developed a severe and overwhelming inflammatory response in the lungs which prevents normal lung function.

how do we know that covid hasn't been around for years, decades or longer? we just discovered it, but doesn't mean it didn't exist right? don't hundrends of thousands of people die every year from the flu and respitory diseases; maybe it's covid?
