Accepted Answer

No: Green tea is high in some antioxidants and likely beneficial if consumed in moderate amount.  It will not lead to autoimmune disorder.

limited risk: It is true that people with 1 autoimunne disease are somewhat more at risk than the general population to develop another, but tha absolute risk is small, & there is evedence to suggest that keeping thyroid disease controlled may reduce further risk. It's important to see your doctor regularly & take your med correctly.  Also,  tendency to autoimmunity runs in families, so don't hide the problem.

hi i have hashimotos thyroiditis. my antibodies are in the 300s and my crp is high at 54. should i be concerned about the crp? is it from my autoimmune condition or something else? should i get tested for other autoimmune diseases?

: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, it would be prudent to follow your doctor's advice about additional testing. Elevated CRP is a non-specific indicator of inflammation.   Wish you good health!

ADVICE: Leave your poor little thymus alone, unless you, in the future, acquire myasthenia gravis, which is unlikely.

Possibly: Possibly directly related or from an associated autoimmune disease.

how often should someone with a new hashimotos disease/autoimmune hypothyroidism diagnosis (6 months ago) have their blood taken and what should be tested? and can hashimotos or levothyroxine skew a cbc or any specific blood test results?

: Depends a bit on what was seen 6 months ago.  CBC contains a number of tests so need to know which one(s). They both may change thyroid blood tests. Discuss with someone who has seen you and your thyroid and tests. or send us all the tests and normal values. Then we can better help.

No: The tests for hashimoto's are specific to the thyroid. The test most likely to be positive is the thyroid peroxidase antibody and the next is the thyroglobulin antibody test.

i am a nurse and new in the aesthetics industry, i have a client would would like dermal lip filler but has hashimotos auto immune disease. this is well managed and under control. she has previously had lip filler. would it be safe to proceed?

Related: ANA of 1:1280 speckled pattern could develop in relation to many autoimmune conditions including hashimoto's disease.  It is not specific to a certain condition, however. Could you have another autoimmune condition in addition to hashimoto's? Possible, but this ANA does not necessarily point to that.

i've had hashimotos disease for 20yrs & recently have been diagnosed with a few other autoimmune diseases my results for tsh r 0.94 is this high/low??

TSH of 0.94: At most labs, a TSH of 0.94 is considered normal and is one of many ways to test thyroid function.  Typically a level like this indicates no change in the current thyroid treatment unless the patient is having symptoms of over- or under-treatment.  Palpitations and sweats are some of these symptoms.  The normal levels of TSH are not changed in the presence of other autoimmune diseases.
