Concussion Symptoms: Most people with a concussion recover quickly and fully. But for some people, symptoms can last for days, weeks, or longer.  Symptoms of concussion: thinking, remembering, emotional, sleep, difficulty thinking clearly, headache, fuzzy or blurry vision, irritability, sleeping more than usual, feeling slowed down, dizziness, sensitivity to noise or light, balance problems,  and more emotional.

not typical: Brain injury can potentially cause problems with thermoregulation if there is injury to parts of the brain like the hypothalamus. This is a relatively rare cause of fever in the severely head injured patient. You should rule out infections.

No: Diarrhea is not a symptom of concussion.

Wouldn't recommend: After a brain injury, it would be better to avoid alcohol and any other nervous system depressant for quite a while.  Remember, it the only one your have or will ever get.  Take care of it now.  It has to last a life time!  discuss this with your pcp, neurologist or ns who treated you.

how much force does it take to have another concussion after you already suffered one? laptop bumped my head. only symptom i had was headache.

Hard to say: You are right in saying it may take less force after a concussion to bring about a second one, especially if the first concussion was recent.  That being said, it would certainly take more than a minor bump from a laptop to do that.  If any concerns, don't hesitate to be seen.

i received a concussion 7.5 weeks ago but the only symptom i've had is a slight fogginess. it seems like tunnel vision. does this require treatment?

Concussion: Yes. The persistent symptoms require evaluation with an MRI of the brain. A concussion specialist may want to do neuropsychological testing to identify any subtle cognitive deficits. You will want to get cleared by your physician for sports and exercise too.

i was hit in the head at a boxing match and started to get a mild headache about 30 minutes after, lasting about 2 weeks (only symptom). it has cleared now and i've started fighting again. could this be a concussion? and have i gone back too soon?

Losing brain cells: To stay on the safe side, avoid over-using the brain after such a concussion. That means don't study too vigorously, don't play video games, don't spend time worrying about things, but basically let the brain rest. Also, a person who had a concussion should avoid getting a second concussion. It's not wise to keep losing brain cells. Some sports destroy brain cells.

Post-concussional: This is somewhat unusual, and it would behoove you to have a cardiologist get involved.  However, post-concessional issues typically fade and stabilize by 6 weeks following the injury and your apparent POTS will likely improve over the next few weeks.  But, nonetheless have it fully checked out, just to be safe.

i'm going into wk 4 of concussion. new symptom today : a fluttering  noise in my ears accompanied by pain at the top/back of my head .  is this normal?

? migraine ?: Many patients who have suffered a concussion will later develop a tendency for migraines.  These may present with irritation by light and/or sound, strange visual or auditory sensations, and throbbing head pain.  However, you should be sure some other condition has not developed.  A thorough medical evaluation would be appropriate.
