can you burst an abcess in your mouth?

Yes: Any oral abscess can burst in out out of your mouth if it is large enough. There have been reports of death due to an abscess spreading to the brain cavity from an infected tooth. Don't fool around with infection, get it evaluated and treated asap!

Abscess: Your "lump" could be an abscess. Pain is not necessary in this situation. Have your teeth evaluated by your dentist.

No: After the blisters have broken spontaneously, they dry up, crust and heal within 7-10 days. There is no cure for cold sores. However, some medications may relieve pain and soften HSV crusts on the skin (e.g. pencyclovir cream).

To ER NOW: Please take your son to the emergency room.  If your community has a poison control number make sure you have it somewhere in a easy to find place. Both poison control and your doctor can provide childproofing tips.  Wash tablets look like candy to toddlers- important to keep them up and away from a child's reach.

: His blood in your mouth, as you described, should not place you at risk for HIV unless you had any open sores in your mouth allowing blood to blood transmission.
