my friend is trying to get high on temazepam. is it actually possible or would he just fall asleep?

Pretty much sleep.: It's a sedative like valium or alprazolam. Some people like the sedation. There is a real risk of serious withdrawal including seizures if it is taken chronically. Feeling good about being sleepy is subjective.

It is one of the most lied about medications with patients reporting less than 20% of the amount of the drug they actually bought from the pharmacy let alone bought from the street.

Yes: The usual dose of Restoril (temazepam) is 15-30 mg.  150 mg is a potential overdose.  While benzodiazepines alone rarely cause fatal overdose, it can cause people to sleep for prolonged periods of time, which itself can cause damage to organs (sleeping in one position causes pressure on skin and muscle, and potentially even underlying organs).  More dangerous if combined with alcohol or other drugs.

Accepted Answer

Not comparable: Your question doesn't make sense on 2 levels.  First, we'd need to know the mg of xanax (alprazolam) we're comparing to temazepam.  More important, "highs" from different drugs are not comparable.  Although both are benzodiazepines, temazepam is very sedating, Alprazolam isn't.  They'll never be "equal."  and neither is safe to take to get high.

As little as 1-2 wks: Can happen actually quite quickly.  If using daily, as little as 1-2 weeks can make you become dependent on the medication.  If used less frequently may take 1-2 months.

Probably not: At least not in the usual doses. The high tolerance and use of xanax, (alprazolam) a notoriously short-acting drug where when it wears off, worse insomnia occurs, may be the cause of your sleep problems. Adding more drugs to problems being caused by drugs is a sure way to enter a vicious cycle of escalating doses, escalating dependency, increasing side effects and problems with addiction and its complications.

Buck up, jazZ: Spinal tap is the most minor of minor procedures. Nothing to be scared of. Valium is a brand name of the generic drug diazepam. Sound similar to temazepam? That's because both are benzodiazepines. You'd be taking 2 benzodiazepines &amp; risking oversedation &amp; respiratory depression. Knowledge is power. Arm yourself, i.e., do your homework: empowering knowledge is out there.

hi i have bpd2 and take saphris (asenapine) 10mg, 30mg temazepam mad 15mg zopliclone to sleep. still cannot get a full nights sleep. now what?

I would: , if you were my patient, stop the temazepam and zopiclone and either raise the saphris (asenapine) to 15 mg at bedtime, or keep it at 10mg and start trazodone at 50 mg, gradually increasing by 50 mg every other day until you were sleeping 8 hours a night without feeling hungover. Please discuss with your psychiatrist.

Maybe: You will have to convince your pain doctor that you will not do other medications, such as heroin, again.

Depends on: Dose and personal reaction to the meds, but diazepam is more commonly used for issues such as this as it effects anixety with slightly less sedating effects (although it will cause sedation as well). Poor dental care can lead to increased systemic inflammation and possible seeding of bacteria, you are right. So definitely get in to see dentist. It will be hard, but you can do it!

i have pernicious anemia and was just told my gastrin levels were extremely high. i also take prilosec, lexapro, (escitalopram) restoril, ativan, and lithium. ?

Accepted Answer

Prilosec!: Prilosec can cause elevated gastronomic levels.  Could be that.  There are other causes but this drug is a culprit to cause this.
