Neck pain: You need to be examined by a competent doctor - many things need to be taken into consideration - how long have you had this problem, what is your medical history etc and this needs to be matched with findings on sound and complete physical exam - see a doctor for this condition.

It all depends: the fact that the pain is in your throat makes me think that is not just somatic dysfunction in you C spine. I would have a primary care provider examine your neck and throat, consider imaging if needed.

help i woke up this morning n i can't move my neck mainly to the left. is this whiplash?

Accepted Answer

No: Whiplash specifically refers to the soft tissue injury caused by a jerking or whipping motion of the head - most commonly caused by a car accident.  So that would be nearly impossible to do to yourself in your sleep.  More likely, you may have degenerative discs (discs with wear and tear) in your neck which have been aggravated.  Most such cases will resolve simply with time and conservative care.

Neck pain: Neck pain associated with radiation to left small finger is associated with a C8 problem. So likely some type of impingement associated with nerve being irritated at that vertebrae. Other possibilities include irritation to nerves of brachial plexus which come down your neck and irritation of nerve at shoulder.

It : It sounds like you may be dealing with a muscle spasm. Have you tried musce relaxers or anti-inflammatory medications? I am curious to know what relieves the pain? Do you have any other symptoms when this happens like tingling or numbness? Were you involved in an accident prior to the start of these symptoms? 
When you see your primary care provider for this issue, these and other questions will be asked, along with a physical exam, and possibly imaging studies ordered. This is the only way to figure out what exactly you are dealing with, and to ensure proper treatment.

Muscle spasm: This sounds like muscle spasm of the supporting neck muscles,actually quite common. I suggest using Advil or Aleve (naproxen) , if not allergic and also BioFreeze cram or gel.

yesterday, the left side of my neck went stiff while sleeping.now i can't move it at all. what do i do?

?torticolis: If you slept on your neck in an odd way, you may have a severe sprain, or a torticolis of your neck.  Try an NSAID and warm compresses.  If you have a high fever, feel really sick and have a sore stiff neck, go to the ed to make sure you do not have meningitis (which would be rare).
