See doctor: Could be an ear infection, fluid from a respiratory infection or a wax buildup.In addition you may have somehow damaged the auditory nerve. See you doctor for an examination and diagnosis.

Ear and mouth issues: See an ENT specialist right away. This could possibly be a sinus infection. These start from nasal congestion or from various dental issues in the upper teeth. Occasional tonsil abscesses or masses could cause your symptoms. See the ENT doc right away!

i went to doc 9 days ago with cold-like symptoms. they gave antibiotic/steroid shot. i'm still sick and now can't hear out of my left ear. just acold?

Medicine guesswork: &amp; likely both antibiotic &amp; steroid were not helpful/ inappropriate; recommended for desire to do something, often a big problem driving inappropriate yet expensive treatment. Cold is a widely promoted/accepted catch-all for lots of illnesses, regardless various actual mechanisms. Try antihistamine &amp; Valsalva maneuver to open up ear. Would love to help but more guesswork than usual from a distance.

Suggestions: There are several causes for focal ear issues, and your headaches may well be associated.  Would contact your doctor and get this fully evaluated, as not clear why you, at 18, should be experiencing these changes.  Likely will need a full audiological/ otological evaluation.

Eustachian tube: May have blocked your eustachian tube, have fluid or blood in the middle ear, or perforated the ear drum. Best to see your otolaryngologist.

The: Lower atmospheric pressure may be affecting tympanic membrane movement. Audiologist may be able to help.

is vertigo or dementia a possible cause of my not being able to hear out of my left ear? i can't hear out of my right ear as if i were descending on a flight to land but my ear never pops so the hearing hasn't come back

Hello. : Hello. You may have some dysfunction of your eustacian tube (that  tube that connects the inside of the ear with the throat). This could be causing the sense of pressure in your ear and the reduction in hearing.  Vertigo is more like a sense that things are spinning around you - or sometimes that things seem tilted.  There is a disease in which a person can have episodes of vertigo with intermittent hearing loss. 
  You might want to try an oral decongestant. Afrin nasal spray can be helpful but must not be overused. It should not be used more than twice a day for 3 to 5 days (it only works for me for about 48 hours).  
  As for dementia, i don't see how that would fit in with ear pressure with decreased hearing. Hope this resolves quickly.  If the problem becomes worse or is  not resolving, get in touch with your doctor.

hard to hear out of my left ear after swim. should i hit my head on other side?

No: You may try making a thin wick out of a paper towel and insert it gently in your affected ear to soak up the water.  If deafness persists, there may be an infection and you should see a doctor.

woke up this morning unable to hear out of my left ear. i can feel vibrations of bass-like sounds but all else is very muffled.

Wax: Either you have fluid behind the drum or
wax in the ear canal. Then again, it could
be a bug.
