i think there is a contact somewhere in my eye but i can't get it out. any tips?

Contacts: See and eye specialist.  It may be out, but you may have scratched your eye by continuing to remove it, or caused and infection.  It may still be in there, you need examined.  You can try pulling your upper lid out and down over you lower lid and letting go to see if the flushes it out, or you could have a friend look in your eye for it.  Otherwise get examined.

i have worn contacts for 18 years- my eyes are fine when i wear them, but have dry eyes when i don't. if i stop wearing them, will my eyes get better?

Sensitivity : It is not uncommon to have increased sensitivity to dryness after taking the contacts out of your eyes. There needs to be a period of readjustment (weeks). Use artificial tears like Refresh™ several times daily to help with dryness. Warm eyelid compresses once daily &amp; 2000mg of fish oil supplement may help too. In contact lens issues, it's always a good idea to have your eyes checked too.

Ask your eye doctor: It takes patience and practice. You have to want to wear contact lenses more than eyeglasses.

Wash it out: With a flood of artificial tears.  If this does not work, see your eye doctor.

Rinse: Try using your contact lens solution (if it is an 'all in one') to rinse out the lens. If that does not work, you may need to come to the eye doctor and have them find and remove it. Occasionally, we see patients who actually do not have the lens still in, but the eye is irritated from the attempts to remove it!

Eye: Apply sterile solution to soak eye while looking up, let it soak, gently press lids and manipulate the contact out. After that, if pain persists, see your eye doctor.

Accepted Answer

Dry, allergy, tight: Contact lens make dry eye worse, allergy to solution or contact and tight contacts can make your eye red.  Its best to wear for a shorter time period and use dialy contact lenses.  Please make sure you have the right fit.

my contact is stuck to my eye. how do i get it out?

Accepted Answer

Depends: If it is a hard contact, you could get a small suction device that you can get at a local optometry office or pull your eyelid to the side and blink it out.  If it is a soft contact, you can move the lens with your finger up or down or to the side and squeeze it out with your fingers.   If you think it is stuck under the eyelid somewhere and can't get it out, see your eye doctor.

You will need: to see an eye care practitioner who fits contact lenses.  Generally you will need a recent refraction (test for glasses prescription), eye health examination, measurement of your corneal curvature, a discussion of your options, and lessons on insertion, removal and care.

how do i get a contact literally stuck to my eye out?

Accepted Answer

Carefully: If you cannot remove the contact and you cannot get someone else to get it out for you, you may be able to get one of the small suction cups made for this and remove the contact.  If that fails, you cannot flush it out or flip it out or "pinch it out" then you may have to seek medical care from your eye care professional or pcp or urgent care center.
