Yes: I trust you're not trying to crash-diet. In the long run, you'll stay trim by staying in good aerobic shape and eating smart (enough protein, avoid salty / greasy / sugar stuff that folks overeat). A cheap vitamin-and-mineral supplement from a drugstore chain should be enough (or more than enough) to cover you while you're slimming. Glad you're doing this and good luck.

Walking & shakes: Meal replacement shakes are fine as long as they are low in carbohydrate and surgar, and high in protein content (at least 20grams of protein). However, more important than the shakes would be exercise. Walking is really not adequate exercise to lose weight. You will really benefit from cardio exercise (treadmill, bike, elliptical) to get your hr up to your target hr. That will make you lose wt.

Hypothyroidism: people with hypothyroidism tend to gain weight, thyroid hormone replacement is often prescribed for it, the dose should be adjusted based on the TSH result, also may need some exercise and diet change

Consider protein: shakes in the morning, e.g., Dream Protein by Doctors for Nutrition.  Also, consider Greens First, powdered fruits and  vegetables by the same company. Why do you have pain: First thing is to figure out why you have pain when you postpone eating? Losing weight if you have weight to lose, can be a great thing for your health, but don't ignore signs that your body is telling you if they are not going away. Ulcers are common and can be treated by seeing your doctor. Gastric pain can be related to other more serious conditions that you will want to rule out. Take care!

One possible reason: There are probably several reasons for protein shakes not curbing hunger. One reason is that protein shakes are a dense food compared to let's say lettuce and spinach. A pound of greens would fill up more of your stomach than a pound of protein shakes. The stomach has stretch receptors that notify the brain when it is filled with food. The brain then generates a feeling of fullness and less hunger
