i took 16oz of prune juice and now im really worried that im going to have bad cramps tomorrow. will a digestive health probiotic prevent this from occurring? or is there anything i can take to prevent cramping from prune juice?

: The actions of prune juice work on a simple basis where the sugar in the product draws water along while it stimulated an evacuation. Probiotics will not cancel this mechanical process. It may or may not trigger cramps based on the excess volume you ingested. I suppose Imodium may reduce the intensity of any cramping, but it may proceed regardless.

im having really bad cramps and bloating from having too much prune juice and was wondering if midol and a gut health probiotic would be okay to manage the cramps. i usually use it for periods only so i wasnt sure?

: If you symptoms are from use of prune juice, these should subside in a day or so, if you discontinue using prune juice. for constipation -You may take a fiber laxative like Metamucil and drink enough water daily so that your urine is colorless. For the long term you may try to increase your intake of fiber foods.

Why would you give?: In general, there is no indication, reason, or need to give any juice to an infant. This may only set himself up for a preference to consume sweetened foods later on. If baby is feeding well - preferably breast milk - and has normal stool output and make plenty of wet diapers, I would refrain from giving juice. There are some doctors who recommend this for mild constipation however.

Agreed : I do share your concern giving that much prune juice to someone who is in that situation. Before giving it, I would speak with the patient's doctor to determine why she is already having liquid stool and to formulate a good plan to deal with her many issues. Good luck.

Prune juice: We don't want prune juice to give the runs.  That is unhealthy.  Just want it to help w/bowel movements.  Everyone is different.  Start w/one glass and increase until effective.  Use unsweetened prune juice because the sugar or artificial sweeteners in juices is not healthy for anyone.  Peace and good health.  If you have GI symptoms please see your doctor.

Try half: Assuming your doc has prescribed this for constipation?
If so, no harm in trying half the dose first then a full dose if no results in a couple of hours.  If any vomiting is happening, though, and there is no BM or there is evidence of abdominal pain you need to see someone instead.
