can omeprazole cause green stool?

Probable coincidence: Green stool usually is caused by rapid transit - the stool moving through your bowels quickly.  It is most likely that this was coincidence, and there is no documented "scientific" reason for this that I am aware of....However this is not the first time i've heard this.  Eat plenty of fiber, drink plenty of water, and see if things don't work themselves out (no pun intended).

read that prilosec otc can cause stool discoloration. does that mean it can cause your stool to be light in color? and if so, would it last for as long as you take the medication?

Prilosec: One of the side effects of prilosec is diarrhea, so it can increase transit time of stool  through the intestinal tract and cause lighter colored stools in some cases for as long it is taken.

Prilosec=diarrhea: It's asssumed microscopic colitis was seen on colonoscopy so Prilosec may be causing the 'loose stools'. Stool tests may help rule out infection.  If gallbladder is absent then consider Metamucil to 'firm up stools'.

Black stools...: Black stools can either be from foods or medicines ingested or a sign of GI tract bleeding.  Common foods that cause black stools include collard greens and beets.  Medicines associated with black stools include bismuth containing products (e.g. Pepto-bismol) and iron supplements.  Prilosec does not cause black stools.  I suggest you see your doctor to rule out GI bleeding.

Stomach issue.: Your doctor may think you have gastritis or an ulcer.  Black stool implies that there's an upper tract source of bleeding into the intestinal tract.  If it doesn't stop you may need further testing.

Light color stool: Light colored or tan colored softish stools are seen in more rapid transit of fecal material through the intestinal tract. I would think that the gaviscon has a lot to do with it in your case and that the stool would revert to normal color if you discontinued it. You could take zantac or pepcid instead if you're bothered by the light colored stools.

intentionally vomiting roughly 1x day for 2 mos. stopped two days ago when i noticed black stools. started prilosec. is it ok to watch symptom?

Vomiting: Wretching for so long may have caused breaks of small gastric blood vessels finally causing black stools. If they continue see a gastroenterologist.

Well...: I do not have all details....  In a menstruating woman anemia and iron deficiency is not uncommon...   Yet, you had a hysterectomy and the most common place to lose blood is the colon, and in general the gastrointestinal tract.  A negative test for blood in stool is a good thing, but keep in mind that very small bleeds will not show on this test.
You might be in need for a colonoscopy.

No: Prilosec does not affect the growth of H pylori. It only provides symptomatic relief from stomach acid.

Fairly high: I presume the breath test was negative. Only 2 weeks out from taking Prilosec there is a fairly high chance for a false negative. I agree with your doctor.
