No. : No.  The current urine drug screening tests are not triggered by eating a poppy seed muffin.

Poppy pod tea: Poppy Tea is a "drink" made from the crushed pods of the plant Papaver Somniferum. It has psychoactive alkaloids in it like codeine, etc .
 A uniform "recipe" for this tea doesn't exist. Be aware that some drinkers have OD'd &amp; died from crushing too many pods for their tea. 
Poppy pod tea is NOT recommended for one wanting to get off opiates b/c of the psychoactive alkaloids in it.

Retake test: False positive results. Those cute little poppy seeds can show up as Opiates. Diphenhydramine can show up as + for Benzos.

Poppy seed = opium: Poppy seed has the same alkaloids as are present in opium and it is not feasible to determine if your positive drug test is from opium or poppy seed intake.

No big concern: The cut off concentration in urine is quite high in the context of Fed drug testing for just this reason.  So unless you ate a whole bunch of poppy seeds within 24 hours of review, No worry.

Even : Even though the drug, opium, is from a different part of the poppy plant, there is a possibility of failing a drug test after eating poppy seeds. It was actually tried on a myth busters episode and has been written about on snopes.Com (see below)! luckily, many tests have taken this into consideration, so will only register much higher levels of opiates as an actual "positive" on a drug test than you can get from eating poppy seeds. Simple urine test: Only shows that you're positive for opiates. However, most people will send it to a lab to determine which opiates are present and that is done by gas chromatography and at that point the specific opiates that you are taking will be identified. Best wishes.

Mainly opiates: There are false positives, but opioid tests are generally set at a very high level (like 3000 ng/ml) which eliminates most of the things that can cause false positives. The most common is poppy seeds, which really aren't giving a false positive, because they contain tiny amounts of a substance (papaverine) which is metabolized into morphine, so it is actually a true positive.

What's to tell: If the test is done correctly - a positive screening test followed by more sophisticated confirmatory tests, which if positive has close to a 100% accuracy that the person used opiates.  The only "false" positive is with poppy seeds, which actually have a chemical related to morphine in them, and produce tiny quantities of morphine after metabolism. They should be avoided before testing.

i failed 2 drug tests in 3 days i'm not using opiates what can cause this. when it was disputed it still came back positive. but i tested at probation?

False positive: Poppy seeds can cause false positive for some opiates. It would depend on which opiate they are testing for.  There are other things including medications that can cause this.  Best advice be open and honest and ask  your doctor to go thru with you other possible causes.
