can a melanoma look like a bruise?

Yes: Of course the duration of a bruise is short while a melanoma persists. Unusual color with an irregular border and possibly raised discoloration are typical of melanoma. A bruise has less well defined edges and goes through a transition fairly quickly.

i have a bruise. i don't know how i got it, but i've had it for more than a month and it still hasn't healed. could it be melanoma?

Probably not: Bruise is from some trauma or pressure injury and rupture of capillaries. It fades definitely in month.
 If there is a new skin discoloration of 1 month duration not itchy, rapidly spreading in size get it checked with your doctor. If same size with clear outline= may continue to monitor for 6 months. 
If there is family History of skin cancer and especially Melanoma yes get it checked.

i have a bruise on my thigh. i don't know how i got it, but it's been there for at least two weeks, and it still hasn't healed. could it be melanoma?

Take a look: A bruise begins purple and often tender, then EVOLVES slowly through green and yellow, then is gone after a few weeks. A melanoma is usually (not always) black, evolves much more slowly. A melanoma may expand in a very erratic way. A 2-week bruise is not much like a melanoma. If it slowly fades, forget it.

can melanoma appear as a 1 inch irregular diameter blue/grey bruise? on the upper outside arm?

Melanoma/bruise: Melanoma can appear anywhere.  The color is usually dark brown/black and irregular.   Melanomas can be flat or a bump but don't usually have a bruise unless there has been trauma to the area on top of it. A bruise is caused by bleeding under the skin.   A bruise can become dark, but eventually becomes lighter, green and then yellow. It will go away. If the lesion bleeds or gets larger, see a doc

Bruise not typical: A bruise is not a common sign of melanoma. I am more concerned about axillary mass but that is probably a pilar cyst or other cyst. Either way it should  be checked out soon!

It depends: Melanoma can be in the nail bed under the nail or back in the matrix or root of the nail. Get it checked. Melanoma is a serious malignancy.

Difficult: They may look the same. Of course the subungual bruise will ultimately resolve but it may take a very long time. For peace of mind I recommend consulting a podiatrist for evaluation.

i have a pimple on top of my mole. it is really tender and bigger in height. i have a bigger chance of melanoma. should i see a dr.?

Biopsy is indicated: If there is any change in your mole, the surgical removal and biopsy are indicated.

had a mole removed on my neck that was suspicious of a possible melanoma. the doctor said it most likely wasn't though.. biopsy results are next week. neck lymph node is bean size and tender. is it connected/cancer spreading or could it be nothing?

Either: If lymph node not present before biopsy, likey "reactive" lymph node from procedure. Show the node to MD when you return.

Melanoma : Any suspicious lesion even if it appears suddenly will need  to be biopsied to exclude malignancy.
