This in turn pushes up on the supraspinatus &amp; deforms it or makes it bow upwards. @ the, level of its attachment @ the humoral head. Mod cart loss @ AC joint means there's arthritis there, or could also B from infection or inflammation.

An MRI or ct arthrogram would show damaged shoulder cartilage, but whether you need one of these studies should be decided by a doctor talking to you about your symptoms, examining your shoulder and seeing if cartilage may be the reason for pain.

More specific: You would have to be more specific in what type of surgery you had, how far out from surgery you are, etc.  I would discuss this with your treating surgeon but generally speaking, if your shoulder has been thru one operation i would avoid the heavy weight.  I would focus more on tone than bulk.  Our frames/bodies are not designed for massive muscle.

No: We do not know, how to grow new cartilage in arthritic joints.  While surgery is the last resort for a painful arthritic joint, it can be very effective in reducing pain.  Good luck with your next joint replacement.

Not really: The copper therapy products available to consumers have not been proven to help arthritis. However, pain is very subjective, so if a person believes he is doing more to treat his pain by buying copper bracelets, he may truly feel less pain. The same holds true for magnetic bracelets, as they don't work either. The manufacturers and sellers do enjoy selling them, as more sales means more income.

Get examined!: At age 55 your most common cause for this pain would still be 'impingement' ( or bursitis). Labral tears causing this pain are less likely unless associated with the biceps 'anchor'( SLAP) lesions -- but less likely in isolation in your age group.Osteoarthritis can cause pain in this distribution . AC joint arthritis can also cause pain when rotating arm towards chest ( adduction). See an ORS! GL!

Genetics plays a big role in this process. So if your parents have it, you are a possible recipient of that gift now or in the future.
Other inflammatory arthritis conditions can do it. (like Rheumatoid, Lupus, Gout).
Injury to the meniscus often leads to significant cartilage loss over time.
