i am taking 5 mg of amlodipine besylate and having ankle and foot swelling i also take 100 mg losartan can my doctor replace amlodipine with?

Ankle swelling: Leg swelling is one of the common side effects with Amlodipine.  There are several other groups of medicines available to treat hypertension. Your doctor will choose another class based on your other medical conditions.

i had twin boys about 8 months ago since i fell pregnant i had swollen feet and developed high blood pressure during my pregnancy since after i gave birth the swel;ling in my feet went away but i have noticed that after a work day my feet swell?

Swollen ft s/p birth: Likely from the pregnancy you have venous insufficiency due to the weight of the babies . This is not uncommon after birth. Do you have visible varicose veins? That would be  a similar process. Would check you blood pressure , chec kcreatinien and renal ( kidney function) make sure it has returned to  normal, limit salt intake , discuss use of supportive hose with your doctor. F/u/ w/ doc

can anyone explain why i start feeling cold after taking valsartan (sometimes i also get goosebumps)? had a similar experience with losartan which gave me intense chills for the first few hours. metoprolol made my hands and feet frozen cold?

: sometimes side-effects of meds are very individual and cant be explained. Best is to discuss this with your doc- get away from this class of meds and try another. Good luck.

Foot pain.:  Did you injury your foot? If you are already taking aspirin then consider acetaminophen. There are also many topicals.  If you take an NSAID, don't take highest doses since you are on aspirin.

Medicines: Swelling in your legs is very likely due to Amlodepine but there may be another contributing factor to your swelling specially in your face .This is Actos (pioglitazone) known for retaining fluid. You need to go back to your doctor to discuss these side effects known to occur in the 2 medicines you are taking.

: Losartan is a blood pressure medication in the ARB class. It is not generally used to treat edema, but it also doesn’t cause edema the way amlodipine can. HCTZ is a diuretic and is sometimes used to treat edema, but good catch about the sulfa allergy!  There are other diuretics that do not have a sulfa molecule and might be useful along with the losartan.

Many: Swelling can be caused from things such as cardiovascular, arthritic, diet etc. A work up is in order such as blood work, doppler study. See your doc.

Usually not: It typically causes blisters on toes and fingers. Blisters on foot could be fungus infection, psoriaisis , infection, or severe eczema. See doctor for follow up to evaluate swelling and for approriate treatment.
