dmii-i take lisinopril for proteinuria. except for the labs i get every 3 mos, how would i know if my k is too high? this frightens me.

consider switching to an "arb" class medicine. It's similar to Lisinopril (ace class) without the cough.

hello! i take 7.5, a tablet and a half of lisinopril for hypertension. b draw about 5 month ago and my kidney function- potassium was normal. i read high pt can stop the heart. im now nervous. should i get it checked or wait until 6 mts. no symptoms?

: I am not sure where your concern is coming from. You are on a low dose of a well tolerated medication. You have normal kidney &amp; potassium numbers on blood testing. Unless your are taking supplemental potassium or other medications that drive up potassium levels, then there is no cause for concern.

HBP and lisinopril: Lisinopril (l) is a drug of the ace-inhibitor (a) class of drugs. It is an excellent drug to control BP as well as reducing protein in the urine, as do all drugs in that class. There are other drugs in that class that are on the market. Ask your doctor to see if ramipril (r) is a good substitute for l in your case. As you can see from the image, r is quite effective in reducing cv complications.

Yes, but: 2different mechanisms Lisinopril is a BP medicine but spironolactone is a water pill i.e. Indirect BP control by controlling the volume of fluids in the body. The combination needs to be used with caution if kidney disease.

Stopping lisinopril: You are in danger if you stop Lisinopril abruptly. You need to see your doctor and tell him why you are doing this and you probably need to be place on another anti-hypertensive drug if you blood pressure needs to be controlled. Once again, never stop medications prescribed to you without speaking to your doctor about it.

: If it stays this level for a week off meds I would consider stopping, but with a call to your regular doctor as part of the decision. 2 days is not a good gauge of what can happen with various dietary and other variations in your daily activities over time. If you stay in a normal range for a week or two it is a good indicator that a change can be safe. Elevated BP is a stealth killer.

taking lisinopril 20mg and amlodipine 5mg daily. bp has been in the high 130's/90's for a month. any recommendations?

TAlk to your Doctor.: Good keep the BP log. It does varies from morning to evening and day to day also with activities .Normal BP should range from 110/70 to 140/80. 
 Limit salt, Be as close to Ideal weight as possible and stay physically active to keep BP under control.
 So bring the BP log to your Doctor, he/she will give you correct advise, as he/she knows your full medical history.
