Yes: Any bladder infection may cause blood to appear in urine. However need to see doctor for accurate diagnosis and rx.

i have interstitial cystitis and lupus. ua lately has been showing moderate blood in urine but no rbc. do i just assume it's from the ic?

Yes,most likely: advise check on urine protein , IC and SLE can go together. IC not assocoated with kidney damage but lupus ca. Strongly suggest 24 hour urine protein determination.

Should not!: While reported, is is quite uncommon.  Since interstital cystitis is thought to be autoimmune, it might help, since it is secreted in the urine primarily.

: Sterile pyuria (leukocyturia) is typical for interstitial cystitis not lone hematuria. The urine dipstick is positive for occult blood does not always mean true hematuria. I am curious why your partner has checked urine so often.

: Yes.  May be bladder wall lining cells showing up in urine. Can show trace if blood or even bloody urine.

Hematuria: its to find out if the source of blood in urine is kidneys or bladder. You just ask for microscopic exam of urine. RBCs  from kidney in the urine are deformed or form castes or rouleaux. It's not so if the source of those red blood cells is bladder.

See below: Yes it can, it depends on the cause.You need to see a urologist though to have a look into the urinary bladder to make sure you do not have any other  problems inside the bladder causing blood to appear in the urine.
