Normal: lymph node reaction to infection. I assume you were treated.- if it  come back, see PCP immediately.

my 70 yr old mother has swelling on the whole face. he had a head injury recently but ct scan is clear, is complaining of  vaginal discharge or infection & is on asthma inhaler since years. what could be the cause of recent swelling. bp, kideney ok?

Some basics: Facial swelling can be an allergic response or retained fluid for another reason. If the lymph flow in her head/neck are backed up by an obstruction (superior vena cava syndrome) it is a worrisome sign suggesting an abnormal growth blocking the flow. If you can't explain this as an allergy I would have her evaluated. Vaginal discharge &amp; inhaler use is irrelevant. This needs immediate attention

: Those are sx of a viral infection and covid-19 infection needs to be ruled out. Treatment is only supportive with OTC meds, as needed.

Sebaceous cyst: probably infected and you have gone too long without having it evaluated and treated. You may need a surgical excisional or drainage. Call for an exam and treatment.

Dentist: Start with your dentist to rule out any dental issues. Gingival swelling and pain is almost always dentally related.

Head injury: Most likely post traumatic tissue swelling and extravasation of blood to periorbital area. Should resolve in three weeks. if any continuing neurologic symptoms consider  CT or MRI scan. Can apply warm moist compresses around eyes.

Call dentist: You need to call the dentist who treated you. They will know best what is happening in that tooth.

Accepted Answer

Absolutely: You need to go back to your doctor asap and have this fully assessed. If you have not yet seen an infectious diseases specialist you should also do this asap.  Do not wait, if this is recurrent or exacerbation of chronic infection and not managed urgently you could be in big trouble. Hope this is better soon.

Ice pack: Ice pack. Treating the swelling may have cosmetic benefits (short term) but doesn't affect long term results. Ice can also reduce pain. Apply it for no more than 20 minutes at a time.

Pallor: Ice causes blood vessels to constrict so the skin becomes temporarily pale. Usually it is soon followed by reddening then a return to normal. If your pale mark is long standing, it is unlikely to be due to the ice unless this first caused a "burn". See your doctor for advice about the swelling and pale mark.
