IT DEPENDS: I assume this gallbladder test was ordered due to symptoms consistent with gallbladder pain. If the answer is yes and the ef is only 15% the real question is when are you going to have surgery to remove your gallbladder, not what you are eating that may trigger an attack.

Accepted Answer

Oily or greasy: foods that are high in fat content stimulate contraction of gallbladder to secrete digestive enzymes.  So yes ingestion of these foodscan precipitate biliary colic or even acute cholecystitis.

Retained stone: A retained bile duct stone. Need a ERCP perhaps.

i need my gallbladder removed but am waiting. had another attack. is it possible that lettuce causes the gallbladder attack?

Gallstones?: What tests have you had done? How do you  know you need gallbladder surgery? Sometimes gallstones will cause upper abdomen discomfort after eating many things. Lettuce salad with oily dressing can cause symptoms. Call your surgeon to discuss your symptoms. Go to er if persistent marked pain or vomiting.

after gallbladder attack i have constipation and my gallbladder feels swollen when i lay down but it does not cause any pain. never had this before.

Call your PCP as U: may need to be seen or examined sooner than you think. You don't want pain, as it means you have to go to the ER, and if other signs persist that show you need surgical intervention, then you'll be laid up in the process. So, see your PCP for evaluation, and get in and be examined, and seen. Don't delay!

diagnosed w gallstones thru ultrasound but now ordered for hida scan? is it true that this scan could cause severe gallbladder attack or move stones?

Maybe: A HIDA scan evaluates the function of the GB. During a HIDA scan you are given a medication that will cause your GB to contract and that can sometimes cause discomfort. Also the Ensure that you are asked to drink can also precipitate some RUQ discomfort. As far as a full fledged GB attack, that is unlikely.   It definatley does not cause more stones. Talk to the physician who ordered the scan.

Gall bladder pain: Are you sure it is your gall bladder? After you eat a greasy meal, are you having right upper abdominal pains about an hour afterwards? If so, better see your PCP for u/s of your gall bladder. If not, better go see him anyhow for work up.

Gallstones: Sometimes gallstones are of lower density, similar to bile, and if they are small, they may be difficult if not impossible to visualize on CT scan.  So you could still have gallstones.  Ultrasound would be the beast way to visualize them.  Functional gallbladder disease/gallbladder dyskinesia, without stones,  could also mimic biliary colic.

Accepted Answer

Usually about : Six to eight hours, but it can be shorter or longer, depending on many factors.  If you go on to develop acute cholecystitis, it might not go away until you have an emergency operation.
