Smoking Cessation: They can be used together but drug- drug interactions are possible. "Using bupropion and nicotine together can cause an increase in blood pressure. This can cause dizziness, confusion, uneven heartbeats, and chest pain. If you take both medications together, tell your doctor if you have any of these symptoms." Both may help with: the physical side of the addiction, but what causes relapse is failure to deal with the behavioral side.   The associations to cigarettes and nicotine is generally what really re-addicts quitters, so the best approach is really to modify all the associations of behaviors with smoking.   This takes a LOT longer than merely withdrawing from nicotine.

Not really: This is always an interesting question. Nicotine is dangerous for a pregnancy and can cause fetal growth problems among other things. No amount of nicotine is considered safe so the best option is to avoid completely. That being said there are many other dangerous substances in tobacco smoke. In patients who can not stop, the doctor & the patient would weight the risks of nicotine patches.

Expired medications: Medications that are passed their expiration dates can be less effective, or contaminated.  Some medications could even decompose into products that can be harmful.  It isn't worth the risk to take expired medications, so regularly clear out your medicine cabinet and replace with fresh medications.

Yes: Nicotine can cause high blood sugar so the patch will decrease the effectiveness of Amaryl (glimepiride) but they can be used together.

Would say no: The 21 mg patch is already a high dose, so adding nicotine gum (or smoking/using tobacco) at the same time increases the risk of a reaction to the nicotine, which is a powerful drug. If you have withdrawal symptoms despite the high dose patch, you likely have a strong addiction/tolerance as part of the problem. But i would only add more nicotine if instructed by your physician.

i need to know why it's not good to use a nicotine patch if you have asthma. i only use flovent and sometimes emergency inhaler in morning.  so why?

Inhaler may cause bronchospasm &amp; is not safe with Asthma. However gum, lozenge, &amp; patch may be used with Asthma. All have similar effectiveness when used as directed.
