Yes, but they work: differently and need to be taken during different times of the day.  Omeprazole needs to be taken before breakfast, and Zantac (ranitidine) after dinner.

Yes, but chk it out: You can use both medications if you need them to control your significant gerd/reflux trouble, but i would advise checking it out with your doc to see why you are having such bad reflux. An infection such as helical pylori causing gastritis/ulcers? Hiatal hernia? Nonulcerative dyspepsia? Minimize alcohol, caffiene, and minty/spicy foods n don't eat before bed. Don't smoke. Consult doc. Good luck.

Stop Aspirin: Not only is the answer a very loud no. But, Aspirin over use can cause head aches.  You have to find a different way to treat your head ache.

Both are very safe: Omeprazole is on average more effective overall, and sustains the effectiveness over the long term. If you are happy on ranitidine, there is no reason to change. Omeprazole has been associated with osteoporosis, and certain antibiotic associated diarrheas, and other rare side effects. As drugs go, it is very safe and very few people have problems with it.

See below: Omeprazole is stronger acid inhibitor than ranitidine, but if gerd symptoms have improved significantly, can try the zantac. Suggest use 300 mg dose, however; if symptoms recur on that dose, return to Omeprazole & consult with doc for re-evaluation & options.

If prescribed : Neither ranitidine or Omeprazole should have any interaction with Paxil (paroxetine) cr. As long as these medications were prescribed this way, you should be fine.

Concerned: I would recommend you follow up with a gastroenterologist . If your symptoms have persisted for this long with the food getting stuck, you may an an egd ( camera down esophagus) to look for a blockage or stricture.

Long term use?: The question is why? and at what dose? I recommend using Nexium (esomeprazole) or Zegerid however, you must understand that the over the counter medications are usually 1/2 strength of the prescription dose.
