if i'm allergic to dilaudid can i take morphine?

Depends: If the reaction is due to an allergic mechanism, you can. Unfortunately, reactions to narcotics are often due to 'histamine release' 'pseudoallergic' mechanisms. If there is a tendency toward having hives or anaphylaxis, narcotics can bring out the tendency. A visit to an allergist-immunologist may help distinguish the mechanisms.

i'm in chronic pain after a hemorid operation. .. i've taken stillpane and tradamol and it's not working. .. can i take morphine tablets?

Hemorrhoids: taking another pain medication really depends on whether your doctor has told you to do so - and if you do take something else then you must stop the other medications.,

can i take morphine with pulmonary hypertension?

Yes  I believe so: Morphine, while an opiod analgesic and anxiolytic, it is know to cause venodilatation and vasodilatation and so ought not to be deleterious in pulmonary hypertertension.

can i take more morphine if my pain increases? the dose my doctor prescribed no longer effectively reduces my pain. what should i do?

When : When you talk to your doctor about this, be sure he knows the exact dose you are currently taking and how often you are taking it. It is not clear to me what the source of your pain is, but you can also consider non-narcotic treatments that may help along with the morphine.

Morphine can cause decreased respirations (breathing), so too much morphine can be dangerous or even deadly.

Morphine as you know is addictive, and if a patient is on it for a long time, they typically need more and more.  It needs to be monitored very carefully by your physician.

Please contact your doctor and discuss this.  We don't want patients to be in pain, but this is a medication that needs very careful monitoring.

Morphine: There is a greater risk when you take or get any medication IV. You had it. The Hydrocodone and the Percocet are oral and at much lower doses. Demerol (meperidine hydrochloride) is not recommended oral and is usually used IV. While there is a risk it is small, it does increase if you use alcohol or other sedatives.

Yes: Tylenol (acetaminophen) and morphine are compatible.

You may have: allergy to hydrocodone and/or oxycodone, but not morphine and/or codeine (Tylenol #3).  It's unlikely you have allergic reaction against acetaminophen given it's an ingredient in Tylenol #3 which you say you had no problem with.  I would stay away from hydrocodone and oxycodone in the future to avoid getting dangerous anaphylactic reactions.

MGT: More details are needed, but the Aleve and a heating pad may be used. Morphine only for severe pain and if prescribed. If you hare experiencing shortness of breath or chest pain, please see the ED immediately.

Depends..: Oral morphine is short acting form or immediate release form has a half-life of 2-3 hours and will be at levels of 50% by that time.  The long acting form of morphine can last 8-12 hours (i.e. Kadian, embeda, Morphine Sulfate sustained release - mssr).
