on lansoprazole for a year 15mg a day for diverticulitis and for risk bleeding on plavix i see lansoprazole can decrease my magnesium.so on my medication ,especially ramipril can i take magnesium supplements as there is moderate risk of hyperkalemia?

You need levels: Before you assume that a possible side effect of a medication is going to happen to you you need to know for sure.  Too much magnesium, potassium or calcium can be as bad as too little.  A simple blood test looking at your magnesium and electrolytes will answer that question, and then you have information to tailor what if any supplements to take

No issue: I would encourage the use of magnesium in your condition .  I would not have any effect on the plavix, (clopidogrel) and would only help your condition.

Why take MB?: Your question is a bit tough to understand, could you rephrase it?  I can't think of a reason why you would want to take MB since it's not the most effective supplement for what you are potentially trying to achieve with it. As for the medications that you are on, I don't see a reason to say that it would be contraindicated.

No: Although well-publicized, the risk of mineral deficiencies in patients on long-term PPI's is extremely small. There is no evidence to suggest that routine monitoring of calcium, magnesium, or any lab test is necessary or recommended. If a PPI is needed to control your symptoms, stick with it. Good luck.

pernicious anemia :b12 injections every 2 mths would taking 15 mg lansoprazole every day for two years with plavix to protect the stomach from side effects from anti-platelet .could this deplete b12 and magnesium and cause neurological symptoms?

No: And if you want another way to get extra B12, you can get B12 pills OTC. Take 1000 unit pill once a day. Will yield same result as injections. Do you really need Lansoprazole???? Are you sure? Why taking Plavix for 2 years? Usually Plavix is used for 6 to 12 months after a stent or CABG. You should be taking an uncoated baby aspirin once a day.

Depends on kidneys: Mag citrate has 2 benefits: treats constipation and prevents kidney stone formation. However, if you take mag citrate chronically, you need to check with your doctor because build up of magnesium in the blood could cause heart rhythm abnormality that is occasionally fatal (ventricular tachycardia). Kidney weakness decreases magnesium excretion and builds it up in the blood.

If you consume none of these foods, you then may need to have some supplements. M supplements can cause nausea, cramps, and diarrhea.  It is always better to ingest M from foods rather that from S.
