Check with GI: If you take it for pain control for another reason then it will not be a problem.   Aspirin and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (Ibuprofen and Naproxen for example) in standard doses may be continued safely in patients having colonoscopy, including in those who require polyp removal.  You should still check with your GI for his or her preference with regards to these meds.

i had colon polyps removed thursday after a colonoscopy.  the papers said not to take aspirin, can i take ibuprofen for a headache?

Acetaminophen: Acetaminophen (Tylenol) would be safer. Do not drink alcohol.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

hi my mom had a colonoscopy and egd we were told no to let her take ibuprofen but she did she took two 2hrs ago what will that cause or harm?

Tell the doctor: If she is a chronic ibuprofen user, it can cause her to ooze or bleed more &amp; make the procedure uncomfortable. The doctor wants the cleanest view to see things so that the scope won't irritate the lining or cause small bleeds to not show the tissue well. So, it's up to him to cancel &amp; reschedule with UR mom or not. Often for procedures they want patients to be off of NSAIDS (Ibuprofen) for a week.

i took an 800 mg ibuprofen today (sat) and am having a routine colonoscopy on wednesday  it is still okay to have it?

It depends: If you are going to have a colonoscopy that does not require a polyp removal or biopsy to be taken then you are ok  otherwise this medication that you want to take increase the tendency to bleeding  after removal of a polyp or biopsy taken. Check with your surgeon about taking this medication before colonoscopy. If want to take tylenol go ahead and take it according to the instructions on the box.

Right away.: Colonoscopy does not preclude taking low doses of meds unless your surgeon is concerned about bleeding from a biopsy site.  Please check with them.

: NSAIDs, especially aspirin, should be stopped one week before the ELECTIVE colonoscopy. Take care.

Depends : how long before ? You might bleed a little. Make sure you tell your physician that before the procedure.

K: Since medications like I buproven can cause prolong bleeding I would advise you to ask your dentist  if it ok to premedicate with it prior to the procedure.

Not uncommon: As ibuprofen can reduce the volume of menstrual blood loss by 20 to 50 percent. It seems to work by reducing prostaglandin synthesis in the endometrium(uterine lining) which leads to vasoconstriction(blood vessels constrict) and reduce bleeding.

See below: Generally speaking, for adults, 800 mg every 6-8 hours is the max dosing.  But smaller adults may require less depending on weight.
