From one's doctor: Clonazepam is a controlled substance (the important thing is the reasons why it is a controlled substance). A prescription can be obtained by seeing a doctor at the doctor's office. Hopefully, this is how a person has been getting the controlled substance over the past 8 years. The patient and doctor should have an ongoing care relationship.

It depends: on how much and how long you have been taking it.  it will be out of your system between 5-10 days depending on the half life in your body.  If withdrawal occurs the main symptoms may last for another 2 weeks but craving may last a bit longer.  Again every one is different.

Depends: Even 1/2 of 0.5 mg pill may be enough if you have not been taking it on a regular basis. If you have been taking regularly then 0.5-1 mg above your usual dose, but not more than 2 mg at one time. Try to contact prescribing doc,  you can also discuss other meds for underlying anxiety so that Klonopin (clonazepam) is more effective in such acute situations.

Klonopin (clonazepam): The elimination half-life of Klonopin (clonazepam) is 18-50 hours.  Since it takes 5 of these half-lives to eliminate the substance from your system, this would be 5 x 50 = 250 hours or a little more than 10 days at the latest.   Faster metabolism could eliminate the medication closer to the shorter estimation point.  We don't know about your own system, though.  Best wishes.

Klonopin (clonazepam): Half-life of Klonopin (clonazepam) is up to 12 hours, so multiplying that by 5  means it can be detected in your body for up to 2 & 1/2 days.

About 4-7 days: Klonopin (clonazepam) is a long acting benzodiazepine. It gets metabolized by the liver. It's clearance from the body depends on the condition of your liver and the presence of competing substances. Also, detection of klonopin (clonazepam) in the urine is also based on the sensitivity and specificity of the test. Some tests for benzodiazepines do not show klonopin (clonazepam). There is really nothing you can do to "flush it" out.

Unlikely: Yes it is a very low dose, but over time you develop tolerance so that it is no longer effective. If you do not need it regularly, i would suggest taking it intermittently and then you will be less likely to develop tolerance.

Yes: Clonazepam which is a benzodiazepene, can cause a withdrawal syndrome similar to alcohol withdrawal. You can also build a tolerance to it as you take it on a consistent long term basis. That is why physicians are moving to other medications such as SSRI's for long term maintenance treatment if anxiety and using benzodiazepines as short term agents.

Rule of thumb: % half-lives of many substances will clear you. This has a 6 hr half-life (time till 1/2 is gone) so 30 hrs should do it. Please don't take any pills w/o a valid medical reason - preferably w/ a Dr's Rx! Then you won't have this worry.
