Yes: It is potentially sedating and some have concerns that it can decrease volume. Most suggest the long acting non sedating antihistamines like Loratadine or fexofenadine as a better alternative  during breast feeding.

Considered OK...: Most physicians consider Diphenhydramine (aka benadryl) to be safe while breast feeding. There are some anecdotal reports suggesting that Diphenhydramine may affect milk supply, but data is lacking. Diphenhydramine could cause a little bit of sedation or fussiness (both are not harmful) in baby, but most infants are not affected. Make sure to keep yourself well hydrated if you have cold.

Antihistamines: Yes you can take Claritin (loratadine) or zyrtec but not allegra, good luck! ice the sting bite also, it helps decrease the swelling and itching.

i'm taking clindamycin for an infection on my face. 3 capsules 3 times a day for 5 days 150mg yesterday after my first dose my body started itching. no rashes but it itches i'm afraid to take benadryl since i'm breastfeeding my 4 month old daughter. ?

Benadryl safe: Benadryl is safe to use while breastfeeding although it may decrease the volume of breastmilk produced. However you should contact your doctor who prescribed the clindamycin and let them know you are itching.  You may need to stop the clindamycin and switch to another antibiotic.

: Develop a bedtime routine, including bath and a book. Avoid more than two hours of screen time,  especially two hours or less before bedtime. Benadryl should not be used as a sleep aide. Avoid extra feeds at night if she is not hungry. Watch for signs of any illness or distress.
