can i take a blood thinner and a coated aspirin on an empty stomach?

Blood thinners: I suppose you can. Anyway , food does not affect the absorption of these drugs . Unless you have an ulcer or history of ,then you are ok.

No, it is not.: If you don't eat before taking an Aspirin, you may get some stomach irritation, followed by a stomach ache, but it shouldn't be too severe. But, I would recommend having at least a small snack before taking one

can stomach ulcers make you nauseous? i heard aspirin can cause stomach ulcers if you take it on an empty stomach, which i do frequently, and i've been feeling nauseous and having stomach pain lately. is it an ulcer?

Aspirin : Aspirin can cause stomach ulcers, even if taken with food.  Nausea and stomach pain are symptoms that can be associated with ulcers.

i take low-dose (81)asa for afib in am on empty stomach w/warm water per dr. is it better to take at night and/or full stomach for stroke prevention?

ASA  for AF: ASA 81 mg can be taken any time of the day after meals. However it will not prevent  thromboembolic stroke from AF. Other medications, such as warfarin or newer oral anticoagulants(blood thinners) are used to prevent a stroke from AF.

Depends on the cause: There can be several reasons for a stomach pain. It is better to find the cause and then  take medications for it. Would be a bad idea to take Aspirin  if one has gastritis or stomach ulcers.This goes for Motrin and similar products. Try some antacids or tylenol (acetaminophen) initially as long as you don't have liver problems and then follow up with your doctor.

: Vitamin C, which is ascorbic acid, is itself actually capable of irritating your stomach lining. This is especially true with higher doses, but some people can't even tolerate mild doses. Taking aspirin with a full glass of water and food in your stomach may prevent irritation of the stomach lining.

Not necessarily: Several nsaids have significantly less GI risk than asa. Also if you take a proton pump inhibitor such as Prilosec daily you further reduce GI risk.

i have chd and my dr said i should take 325mg aspirin daily, but i'm 23. i don't want to develop stomach ulcers at a young age. can i avoid this?

Yes you can. : You are young for chd. This means that you must focus on preventing progression or complications. Aspirin at 81 mg per day is the usual dose recommended. Avoid other medications such as ibuprofen, naproxen...These may increase risk of ulcers. Excessive or daily alcohol will increase risk of ulcers. Discuss with your doctor any unusual and prolonged stomach symptoms.

to minimize stomach upset, should i take pepcid (famotidine) 20mg before or after low dose aspirin?

Before: You can also take enteric coated Aspirin or Bayers Aspirin to avoid stomach upset as it is absorbed in the intestine    If you have heart burn Pepcid (famotidine) is taken twice daily.

should a 48-year-old person w/no stomach problems take an aspirin before taking a 13-hour flight (to prevent blood clots)? if yes, what dose?

Maybe: It would probably be safe to take an 81mg aspirin. However, it is more important during a long flight to ensure blood circulation by walking or otherwise exercising at least every few hours during the flight.
