: Generally, transmission of virus orally requires contact with the mucosal lining of the mouth to be transmitted, and the skin on one's cheek is not going to cause spread.

Mucocele: A small painless bump that has clear fluid and you can pop just might be a Mucocele. I have no idea why it triggers a flare of your cold sore, but inflammation of any know can do that.

: If the "cold sore" was really a Herpes I/II lesion, the virus is very contagious, especially on mucus membranes "lips and month".  If your aunt is "elderly", the chances of prior exposure are high, and the virus is often dormant, so she may not see an actual ulcer develop.

Very unlikely: First, it sounds like your oral herpes was well on the way to healing and likely no longer infectious. Second, herpes transmission usually requires much more intense exposure than a brief kiss on the cheek. Third, up to half of all young adults have HSV1, the cause of oral herpes, usually without having known outbreaks): If he was previously infected, he is immune to a new infection with HSV1.

i have herpes simplex virus (cold sores) since i was very little. every time i give my kids a kiss on the cheek (i never kiss on the month) i usually get a cold sore half the time. no warning. how likely is it to get a cold sore on your cheek?

: Unlikely, but nobody knows exactly. There is always a risk of catching or giving germs, viral or otherwise, when touching or being very near another person. However, we humans much touch other humans. That's the way life is. That said, cold sores are usually oral Herpes type 1, which is a virus that most people catch at some time. Many people catch it from their parents or siblings in childhood.

Possibly: The germ can be transferred to the infant if you are shedding virus at the time. It is most risky in the youngest infants &amp; less so is they get older. If you are taking meds to suppress outbreaks (good idea) it is less likely to transfer. With the limited data provided the risk is hard to estimate.

: Unlikely the kids will it as they were kissed on the head/ cheek. Since you intermittently get cold sore avoid kissing children on the eyes or mouth or any mucus membrane(as can shed w/o symptoms). There may be some risk to your husband. How often do you get cold sores? If several times a year  discuss with your physician suppressive therapy with  Valacyclovir or even consider Lysine 500  mg /day

i have a 5 week old baby girl. someone with a coldsore touched her cheek today. will she get the cold sore and get infected? im so worried :( help...

Hopefully not: But it is possible.  She is quite little.  Watch her for any sign of rash or fever.   If she develops either, she needs to be seen within 24 hours. .  If she has poor feeding, is not as alert as her normal self, or her diapers are not as wet as usual, then she needs to be seen that same day.

if my boyfriend has a blister cold sore and kissed me on the cheek/forehead/tip of nose, is it likely to get the virus? i washed my face when i got home?

: Yes, it is possible. However, most people have been infected with HSV-1 at your age but they do not have outbreak.
