Use in moderation: There is no medical reason i can think of not to consume cold items when you have a sore throat. I would predict ice cream will dull the pain by more than one method (mental & actual).

Itchy toes/genitals: It appears that something is triggering a nerve condition in the lumbar sacral spine of the child. Nerve roots of the lumbar sacral spine innervate the genitals in addition to the feet. Child should be seen As soon as possible. preferably by pediatric neurologist.

Get to a doctor, now: Without testing and an exam, a medical history, etc, a diagnosis can&#x27;t be made, therefore a course of therapy can&#x27;t be recommended. This is now probably verging on a life threatening issue if you can&#x27;t swallow due to swelling (not just pain). Go see a doc, preferably urgent care. ER is appropriate if there is any chance your airways are becoming blocked, or if there may be a foreign body.

Need more info: Medicine cannot be practiced effectively without a full history and physical exam.  This could be one of many possibilities.  Please see a doctor if it persists.

Dark brown honey: Cold Eze ( zinc) lozenges, warm water gargles, Tylenol (acetaminophen) as needed. Cough drops are useless. But some Robitusssin DM, or a generic equivalent. gradma's tea and honey, nice warm chicken soupnd

i found out i have a sore throat. but recently, i feel as if it's getting worse. it's hard sleeping, it gets a bit hard to breathe (maybe over exaggerating) and i'm only able to eat popsicles and yogurt. it hurts to swallow. does it go away by itself?

Depends on severity: A person with throat symptoms of difficulty swallowing and difficulty breathing should be seen by a doctor right away. There may be an abscess under the tonsils or behind them at the back of the throat. Sometimes, symptoms are milder and a patient can be seen by her primary doctor to check for strep throat (antibiotics needed). If symptoms are very worrisome, one should call 911 for an ambulance.

what foods are easy to eat/swallow when you have a sore throat from a head cold?

Soft Foods: Soft and non spicy foods are easy to swallow. If pain is too much, then dissolve 500 mg tylenol (acetaminophen) in 2 tablespoonfuls  of warm water and gargle with it 1/2 hour before eating.
