can i take protein diet like egg, chicken? i had a calcium oxalate stone but not now. will protein diet harmful for kidney or cause a stone?

Stones and protein: In general, high protein diets are not great for people who make kidney stones.  There are many reasons for this.  A normal protein diet is most beneficial.  However, everyone is diferent, and you may benefit from specific tests that your urologist can perform that may allow him/her to more specifically tailor a diet that will maximize your health and minimize your risk of more stones.

: It is  better to vary your diet and not eat the same thing every day. Having said that, it is not unsafe to eat chicken every day, regardless of how it is cooked. But, a varied diet will supply the nutrients needed to be healthy so it is better to eat a variety of foods instead of the same thing every day. Good luck!

Low oxalate: Calcium oxalate stone formers are often advised to eat a low oxalate diet. Many foods contain higher levels of oxalate, including (but not limited to) dark leafy greens, nuts, dark chocolate, black tea, and beans.  The less oxalate one eats, the less will be excreted into the urine to pair with calcium ions and crystallize into stones.  Most stone patients do not need to limit their calcium intake.

Only in moderation!: Oxalate renal stones are formed due to excess oxalate in the urine, caused primarity by excessive meat, peanut or chocolate consumption. Avoiding these stones involves drinking fluids, avoiding oxalate contaning foods in excess, and consuming calcium containing foods - calcium binds oxalate in the gut, preventing its absorption. Spinach is actually one of the foods highest in oxalate!

You will need: A supplement of magnesium.  Oxalate is an end product of normal metabolism and must be excreted.  Although it involves a complicated answer, magnesium helps to prevent the formation of stones.

Calcite stone: I am not familiar with the term calcite stone for kidney disease.  The most common kidney stones are calcium oxalate stones which are caused from absorption from your bones. That is why there is a rational to take vitamin D3 to prevent them. Other types of kidney stones are urate and struvite stones.
