Metronidazole/ETOH: If you are taking Metronidazole for some infection, you should completely avoid alcohol use during the treatment course.  Once committed to antibiotics, you need to finish the advised course.   Once you are done with the treatment, you should be able to have alcohol in 1 or 2 days since half life of this medication is 8 hours.

Metronidazole: This antibiotic has a half-life of about 8 hrs and it takes a about 5-6 half-lives to clear the drug from your system.  Since I don't know when you took it last you can do the calculations yourself, but 48 hrs should be safe.  Not sure whether minimal levels in your blood stream are likely to produce a significant reaction, but speaking from personal experience it is not worth finding out.

No risk, no worry: The fear that alcohol might cause nausea and vomiting in people taking metronidazole turns out to be entirely wrong. There is no interaction between them and no need to avoid alcohol at all. It will take a while for offical advice from pharmacies, health agencies, and health education resources to catch up to the new knowledge. But no problem for you to drink in moderation at the upcoming event.

24-48 hrs after stop: You should not have any alcohol while on Metronidazole and for 24-48 hours after stopping.  Alcohol can cause a serious reaction and make you deathly ill.

Wait 72hrs: I always recommend my patients wait 72hrs before any alcohol intake after taking Flagyl.

Bad combination!: If you are taking metronidazole, you are absolutely not supposed to have any alcohol for at least 48 hours after your last Metronidazole dose. If you drink alcohol with the Metronidazole on board, you can expect symptoms of possible nausea, vomiting, flushing of the skin, tachycardia (accelerated heart rate), and shortness of breath. It's actually similar drinking while taking antabuse (disulfiram). Very bad.

No: It could cause a very unpleasant "antabuse-like reaction."  not dangerous, but no fun. Wait until at least 48 hours after your last dose.
