Unlikely: While theoretically possible, i've never heard of bacterial vaginosis causing infertility.  It's very common, so if it did cause infertility, that would be a lot of women affected.  Sometimes it can go undiagnosed for a long time. So long as you've treated it now, though, you should be fine.

Doesn't cause: Bacterial vaginosis (bv) is too many of the 'wrong' bacteria and less of the 'good ones'. It is not a std/sexually transmitted disease, is treatable, and does not cause infertility. If you think you have BV see your ob/gyn for testing and treatment, if needed. S/he can also check for STDs like chlamydia, especially if you're under 26. See rei specialist if you're trying to conceive without success.

Very unlikely: there are cases of BV causing PID which can block your fallopian tubes, but even that isn't likely.  Many women pregnanct and non pregnant have issues with BV.  Its not something I worry about when treating infertility or discussing fertility.

No, but not good!: Certain types of infections can cause infertility, especially if left untreated. For example, chlamydia or gonorrhea infections can cause a condition known as pelvic inflammatory disease which causes scars to form in your uterus. You should be evaluated for these and be evaluated for your other symptoms to ensure that you have a safe, healthy pregnancy.

Bacterial vaginosis: GV is one organism associated with BV, and is not considered an STD. It is a common vaginal infection that tends to be recurrent, though is treatable with antibiotics. Multiple partners may increase your susceptibility.

No: This bacterial overgrowth occurs when ther is a shift in the amount of vaginal lactobacillus  bacteria.the reason for that is anyone's guess.

: This sounds complicated (&amp; likely a question for GYN specialist) but good that several types of infections have been ruled out.  The normal pH balance &amp; flora of vagina can be disrupted by BV, treatments for BV, &amp; other things (soaps, foods).   It MIGHT help to eat regular yogurt daily for 7-14 days or take probiotics for a few weeks

Gardnerella : Gardnerella can be tested for with pcr culture, or on a wet mount microscopy smear where clue cells are seen. The discharge also gives a + whiff test when  KOH is added to it.

Normal in vagina: Gardnerella (full name Gardnerella vaginalis) is a normal bacteria in the vagina of most women. When a woman has bacterial vaginosis, Gardnerella is one of the bacteria that grows to abnormal levels and at one time was thought to be the cause of BV. If you have increased vaginal odor (typically fishy) or discharge, you may have BV. Treatment is available; talk with your doctor about it.
