Ideally, one should not lose more than about 5 percent of one's body weight in a week.

Sweets make it worse: Carbohydrates can make mood changes worse.  You need to eat more protein and complex carbohydrates.  Lay off candy, cookies, donuts and other snack foods.  Nuts such as almonds and walnuts are good.Snacks.  For a sweet tooth try dark chocolate.  Exercise is the best.  Also try omega-3 fatty acids in the form of fish oil.
