Remove contacts!: Despite the FDA allowing extended wear of contacts, it is never a good idea to wear contact lenses for more than 24 hours at a time. It increases your risk for a devastating corneal ulcer! it is also causing all of your symptoms. Take out your contacts every night, clean them properly. Use rewetting drops. Get new contacts regularly.

i have blood shot veins in the white part of an eye all the time. how do you get rid of them, and is this the start of trouble to come?

Probably dry: Prominent conjunctival vessels usually are an indication of ocular dryness, wind, dust, other environmental exposures. Allergies ; the treatment of them can also make your eyes red. Inflammations ; infections would have obvious associated issues besides redness (pain, discharge, sensitivity). You can try lubricating eye drops like refresh™ optive 3-6 times per day to see if helps. An eye exam need.

for the last four months, every 2-3 weeks, the sclera of one of my eyes turns blood shot  red (a broken blood capillary). what could be the reason?

Bleed: This is a sub-conjunctival hemorrhage.  As long as the vision is unchanged and there is no pain, everything should be fine.  If it is a little irritated, then you can use an artificial tear up to 4 times a day to lubricate. This is due to a blood vessel leaking blood and is usually without cause.  Sometimes straining or blood thinner can cause this. If it continues to happen, follow up with eye md.

The : The fact that your ophthalmologist has been able to help you regain your vision says a lot about his skill.  He knows your anatomy and the area of the occlusion in the eye so he is the correct person to ask these questions to.  Indeed, prior to some of the "miracle"  drugs that we have available today, people with your problem rarely gained much eyesight back.

ER/Urgent care: If your vision is affected such as blurry, seek emergency care right away. A painful red eye can be quite serious such as glaucoma or infection.

Blood: You probably have a subconjunctival hemorrhage.  This is a bleed from a vein in the conjunctiva which directs itself to the space between this transparent tissue and the white of the eye.  It looks dramatic but is harmless and will absorb in 3-10 days.  It is due to a weak place in a vein, subject to pressure like coughing, rubbing, sneezing, straining, etc.

An ophthalmologist or optometrist can screen the eyes for vision-threatening disease, and opticians can fulfill the prescription. If that does not work, make an appointment with a neurologist who specializes in headache.
